What makes working with students meaningful for you?
The potential for transformation. For example, many students think that they will not like the Q&A style of my class (where the professor asks the questions and students have to answer). By the end of the semester, however, many students come to appreciate that interaction because it allows for a deeper engagement with the material and the development of analytical thinking skills.
What’s one project or event you love being a part of?
The Research Enhancement Program. The grants incentivize the pursuit of novel and ambitious research projects and lead to more high-quality publications.
What accomplishment at TXST has meant the most to you?
Spearheading the creation of the new minor in business law because of the potential university-wide impact. It is open to business and non-business majors, it has content for students interested in law school or who just want to learn more about the intersection of law and business, and it includes business law classes as well as classes from other departments.
What inspires you when you come to work each day?
The unexpected moments in class. Even with set readings and exercises, student questions (or answers to my questions) mean that each class is going to be at least a little bit different than another section or semester.
