Formula One Makes a Pit Stop at Texas State

On the road for the United States Grand Prix in October 2025, the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team stopped in San Marcos to hold a question and answer session with the Ingram College of Engineering.

The elite world of motorsports stopped at Alkek Library this October. In partnership with the Texas State Ingram College of Engineering, the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team came to campus to give a panel that gave our students a look inside the innovation, creativity, and research that makes up the science of modern racing.

During the panel, our students were able to hear directly from the team about their work and experience in motorsports. Speakers included F1 host Derin Adetosoye, current driver Jak Crawford, former driver and AMF1 brand ambassador Pedro de la Rosa, executive creative director Stuart Peddie, plus our own Dr. Jesus Alejandro Jimenez.

Bobcat Racing was also on-site to show off their own custom-built car. Each year, the Society of Automotive Engineers hosts multiple FSAE competitions worldwide where the students are tested to fund, design, manufacture, and develop a formula-style race car.

The Opportunity to See Science Firsthand

“We believe that science is the future for America and for Texas and being able to see this and recognize the science behind all of it…and maybe get inspired. And so many of our students love this opportunity.”
